In the status bar of the browser, I wish to see the width to height ratio (4:3 shown as 1.33).

Users may like to have all their photos close to some specified ratio ( I prefer the ratios close to 1.33 or 0.75). Display of this ratio in the status bar of the browser view will help to identify the photos which need to be cropped.

This display is already there in View (Edit) window.

As the resolution and the bits/pixel information is shown in the status bar, Text description (like True colors) may not be necessary.

So something like "1024x800x24 (1.28)"?

Yes, or like:

"1024x800 (1.28)x24"

I think when reading 233x553x24 most people think of something like width x height x depth, which is very close to what it is. I suggest to keep these three values together and add the ratio at the end, not in the middle.

The logic is understood. I accept. Of course, the aspect ratio, being at the end is more visible too! Thanks.
