Histogram: Not very clear and detailed

From what I can see the drawing of the histogram needs some improvement: Currently it's not very good for images which have specific colours used and other colours not used, e.g. this one:

To me the histogram looks pretty confusing. But that is just my impression - until very recently I haven't ever looked at a colour histogram closely.
