now it is impossible to say
window is very little but there is comment is not written all. is cutted.
do as faststone a simple window like that one.
if program is simple is better because this function is important over all other functions.
then if you are able to do the same with movies that will be the max.
thank you very much. Federico

i tried with a photo containing a big comment and when i was browsing all was ok but at write moment pluf comment end abnormally. And then if you clear a comment or a lot of comments after action just have to refresh with F5 to see result. Also when open a folder with many images commented just have to clic on sort by comment to see them.

open folder with files and at this moment comments don't appear.
then i clic on comment and suddenly they appear.
after i tried to modify an existing comment and it resulted truncated when file was saved i think it is a system routine that cut comment and a misplaced refresh disappear comment

How do you modify it? You open the file? You use Metadata/Edit omment?

yes that way, program goes on and write comment but a system routine cuts comment (i think) because other applications doing same thingh have same result.

Strange, i have tested with a long long comment on XnView 1.90.3, and the comment is not cutted!! (i have checked by using Metadata/Edit comment again...)

i have tested with long comment about 30000 characters and only 4093 (that is a block of 4096) were put into window. i suggest to distroy routines and rewrite exnovo fully. Use a standard window for all fields. Not more forms one for each function.you will be glad when all will be ok.
Federico.

It seems your idea of a 'long comment' is just much longer than others'. =p I'm shocked that there'd be a need to put 30K into a comment, but I suppose I shouldn't be.

there is need to make easy to retrieve characters contained into image using ocr. yes i know it is a work but if you don't work don't get nihil.
i am not able to explain but believe me it is important for me and i think for all want to have an album with graphical and textual informations.
Text is perhaps more important than image if you think can be declared "little red flowers" into cpmment and then you will find all plants (from database) containing photo and text you need. With a graphical find this seems very difficult to obtain.

Could you send me a picture with a 30K comment, please?

yes you are right is possible to paste only 19000 characters with copy , but if you hand write it is possible to gain 30000. i am sending such file but i don't know if i will have success.
i received your email and don't know what happened to file sent.
if use faststone you can fill manually into comment 60 k and can see that comment with your xnview. regards Fed.
