Downloaded and installed latest version of XNview today. Now, when I crop and save a photo to a folder , the thumbnail of the saved image wont refresh automaticaly I have right click and select refresh each time ?
Also, what is it with the " want to save changes" , " already eists - want to overwrite " thing - where it says : " don't ask again " ? I select the d" don't ask again " option but it always asks again anyway ?

Strange, you are in browser mode, open a file in view mode, crop and save it, and the thumbnails in browser mode is not changed???

For me it's works, this setting is kept only in the current session!

Sorry. What I mean is that the thumbnail does not auto refresh in the Windows folder on my desktop. The image does change in the browser view of XNview. Hope I'm using the term " browser " correctly. The XNview display of all the photos in a folder. When I go image to image individually , either using the forward arrows or the keyboard space bar, cropping and selecting " yes " when asked to overwrite , all thumbnails inside XNview session do change AND the " do not ask again " selection functions. It's only the thumbnails in the Windows folder on my desktop that contains all the photos / images I've been using XNview to work on that have to be individually refreshed. This wasn't true in the earlier version of XNview I was using until yesterday ?

Any ideas ?

Perhaps this problem is related to Image view and Thumbnail don't match.

- Does the problem also occur when cropping a non-JPG image (e.g. BMP, GIF, PNG, ...)?

- Does the problem still occur if you uncheck the option "Use embedded thumbnail" in Tools > Options > Browser > Thumbnail"?

XnView's thumbnail, or Windows Explorer's thumbnail? It sounds like the latter, which xnview has no control over whatsoever. (Since there's no right click->refresh thumbnail in xnview, something that I sorely miss, when refreshing a large folder can take ten minutes.) I have no idea why your explorer stopped recieving file change notifications, but I don't think xnview caused it, unless there's an odd interaction with the shell extension.

the thumbnail updates only if the dimensions of the image changes. otherwise the thumbnail doesn't update to any other changes, such as newer timestamp.

A decent workaround is to create a new directory and copy the updated images. The new folder will have new thumbnails. At least this works for rotated photos.
