Is there an option to disable background thumbnail creation when viewing an image? So that thumbnail creation will only happen when in browser?

No, the only way is to close the browser

can you have an option to disable it when not in broswer mode? for folders that have a lot of pics it slows down xnview a lot and makes the pic take a long time to appear...

I don't think what you say is true. It can take a while to load for an image if the thumbnail creation in the browser has started. But once you're viewing it in the viewer, the tn-creation usually stops.

Please make it an option then! I really love the fact that XnView is caching thumbnails in the background while I'm viewing one (or more) pictures.
