this behaviour seems quite unnecessary and annoying.

i updated to 1.91.1 and everytime when i browse, edit an image, close the view again, say no to "do you want to save changes", browse, edit another image and so on,
the opened images seem to stay in memory.
my ram drops to zero and the vm was 700mb!

when i close xnview, you see all the openedpix names in the titlebar and closing last 15 secs, depending on how many pics you previously opened.
is this a bug or how can i change this (default) behaviour??

Select Options... View>[x]Only one window view opened.
This can help prevent open images from remaining in background, unnoticed (depending on how your tab and maximize settings are configured).

it should be enabled by default, when the tabs are hidden.

- show tabs

isnt this obvious that when i dont want tabs, i also dont want another view??
and vice versa - if i just want one view, why do i need tabs?

its like you would choose "no tabs" in a browser, then you open a link, and go back, surf, push a link, go back, and all the visited pages are still kept in the memory. who would like this behavior? (ok maybe this is called caching ,but caching pictures offline?)

so why are the pictures still opened in the background using memory when i hide tabs.. its unnecessary complicated imo (espacially for newbies).

Good point. But there might be an old-fashioined style that some people still use? Not me. Start program in "Basic" mode (without browser view or any open images) and launch multiple images into the workspace non-maximized from a file-manager. Tabs can be used there... though I'm not sure how well this works anymore (as I can't test it). That said, I like your suggestion. Sacrificing tab use in one mode might be a worthwhile trade against ease-of-use with default settings?

hi, sorry about repeating, but this is again now current for me:

i want to copy a part of a picture to another picture.
i use only one view without tabs.
now i copy a part into the clipboard and choose "show tabs".
i click on the browser tab and want to load another pic into another tab, but no, i have to manually set the configuration and untick "only one view" (and tick it after operation again)... hm, not really cool.

pierre, can you please combine this two settings?
so when i choose tabs, other pictures opened from browserview are automatically opened in new tabs.
OR a rightclick option in the browser to "open picture in a new tab" which would override the "only one view" option temporarly?

and for copying parts of a picture into another picture, please consider this also:

when i paste from one picture to another its impossible to paste it with the original proportions (like helmut said it stretched to the selection size), and also i never want to paste it to the upper left corner .
