syncing xnview/nconvert versions?

wasn't sure where to post a question like this since it applies to
all os versions of xnview, so i'm putting it here where most
viewers are.

i've been using xnview and nconvert on wxp up until now but
would like to start using on linux and osx as well. i notice,
however, that the versioning numbers don't match for all os'es.
will the various versions be synced anytime soon? or are these
just numbering issues but the software is actually the same?

the reason i'm so interested is that some issues which particularly
concerned my uses for xnview have been addressed but not until
versions much more recent than those available for linux and osx.

thanks,
BabaG

The development of Linux & macos x version is currently stopped, i work on a new program (similar to xnview) for linux & macos x

oh my. i guess that's sort of good and bad news both. good that
there are still to be solutions for all platforms, it's a big part of
why chose xnview/nconvert, and bad as it makes me uncertain
about the time frame. is there any info on when the linux/mac
solutions will start to appear?

thanks,
BabaG

thought of another question, this one regarding compatibility:

does the new app make use of the same libraries?

i'm wondering because that would imply easy conversion
between apps. the way i'd like to work is to be able to use any
of your gui apps, either xnview or this new one, on my chosen
platform, and then take the numbers i get from manipulating an
image, say hsv and levels values, and apply those in a script for
nconvert. i'm hoping the way it would work would be that i could
play with an image on either a mac, windows, or linux computer
and then be able to take the info derived from this gui session
and apply it through a command line script also on any given
platform, not necessarily the same one the gui session originated
on.

is this sort of cross-compatibility something you're aiming to
achieve?

thanks again,
