Keep Zoom Factor with Position

When I'm comparing 2 pictures, which one is sharper,
I'd like to zoom into both pictures and toggle the view.

When I normaly toggle between pictures, the zoom factor is reset.
When I lock the zoom factor (Ctrl+/), only the upper left corner is zoomed.

Is there any way to zoom into a picture, lock the zoom factor and the position of the zoomed area, and compare this with another picture?

It would be ok, if the zoom position is only locked globaly.
It would be perfect, if the zoom postion would be remembered independently for every picture.

Have you tried the compare feature in XnView? Simply select 2-4 images in the browser and then choose Tools > Compare...

In the compare tool, scrolling and zooming of images is synchronized, with the right mouse button pressed you can move an image without synchronization.

Does this help?

Hi Helmut,

thanks a lot for this hint, yes that's what I was searching for.

It's not that comfortable as if I would be able to directly zoom and toggle, but I can use it quite well.

Just in a Dual-Screen environment there is a small "bug".
The compare window opens always on my first screen, where I have the thumbnails,
not on my second screen, where I have the full picture and would like to compare the pictures.

I hope, this could be improved in one of the next releases.
