Nikon Capture NX -NEF embedded JPG size extracted by XnView

In my current work I'm using the JPGs embedded in Nikon NEF (RAW) files. These JPG files, which seem to reflect the edited steps carried out in NX, are viewed using XNView (and later extracted during a batch process, eg web page generation).
The problem is that the size of the extracted JPGs varies between NEF files ie they are not always the same pixel size (H x W) as the NEF image, or a larger proportion there of.
For example for one NEF image, the JPG size from camera is 570x375, as viewed by XnView. If that NEF is resaved by Capture NX the XnView viewed image becomes 3872x2592. The embedded jpg in a NEF derived originally from a large TIFF is only 204x320, and for another TIFF, 320x50.
Over in the Nikonians Forum I was told that: "there are multiple images in any NEF file. For the D200, out of the camera, there is a 160x120 TIFF, 570x375 JPEG, 3872x2592 JPEG and the 3904x2616 NEF."
Is there any way to regenerate the embedded JPGs to "full" size, or for XnView to be set to choose the largest JPG?
Thanks
PETER
Further to the above I have found out that the order of the embedded JPGs is not guaranteed.
