Watermark dialog: Transparency>100, Transparency/Opacity

The values for Transparency can be > 200. I think it would be more intuitive and common if the values ranged from 0..100 (percent).
"Add text..." and "Add Watermark.." are a bit related but use different controls for the same thing: Transparency. Also, in one dialog it says "Opacity" whereas in the other it's "Transparency". I think this should be unified (personally I'd prefer "Transparency").

It's to have better control of transparency 0-255

Yes right. Ok for transparency in 'Add text'?

I don't think that someone needs such a detailed control of transparencey. Whereas it's more important to have a simple and intuitive way to set the transparency. And if there is a real need later, you could introduce decimal values like "50.1".

I'm o.k., not sure what other people think.
Perhaps renaming the menu item from "Watermark..." to "Add Watermark..." would also be a good idea and make it match with "Add text...".
Note:
I wonder whether "Add Watermark.." shouldn't be "Add graphic...". People might use this function for overlaying two or more images.
Opacity for me

• Hi !
- I'ld prefer adjust the
opacity of the image I add as a watermark.
- Currently, I've "Transparency" set by default as [255], that means nothing (in French).
- The "Opacity" (in percent) of the image used to overlay the current one should be more intuitive
- at least from my point of view -
- Aside : I've to test further, because the try I made didn't work here.

I agree, a 0-100 % range and «Opacity» are more logical for me too…

Opacity +255 If watermark is intended to only be detected upon very careful examination, more fine control is needed. 5/255 is too easily seen.

Hello B. !
• That range >> 255 is simply the least effort.
It corresponds to
FF hexa, so that dropdown list has not any decimal conversion in percentage.
- Whether 0-100 isn't sufficient to get a fine-tuning (that whose I doubt)
we could have a decimal fraction even more precise like i.e. :
[
46].¦
7¦ %
- In that way, the largest value is indeed 99.9…

Transparency and Opacity are just the opposite and both meaningful. Personally, I think that transparency is a much more common and used word than transparency and people are more familiar with its meaning (make a
Googlefight and see). (A reason for this is surely that "transparency" can be used in various areas whereas "opacity" is limited to the area of painting, but searching Google for "alpha channel opacity" and "alpha channel transparency" still shows a higher number of hits for "transparency".
All in all I'd vote for the term "Transparency", but if the choice is "Opacity" it would be o.k., too.
The right word, please

Hi !

• Yes, I knew… But in the ß-4 still, we have in French “Transparence”, that is quite false,
since that field and its spin-buttons adjust the
opacity !
- Testing with a couple of images, I've been caught and had to remake the whole handling…

With actually testing the features, we can sort of "fix" Opacity<>transparency thing in local languages...
