Printing a single image across a number of pages

Maybe I'm missing something ... but I'm wanting to print a single image across a number of pages. For example 2x2 A4 sheets.
Is there a way to do it?
Thanks
Happy New Year everyone on the forum.

This would be a great feature! Other programs call such a function "printing a poster".

Do you have a software name to test?

Picasa
Picasa asks for a scaling factor, the tile size, and whether to overlap the tiles (but not by how much). It then produces new image files, one for each tile, with the files named according to their location in the tile grid. The user is responsible for printing the tiles separately.
Corel Photopaint
Photopaint integrates poster capabilities into the print layout function. It doesn't actually save the tiles to disk, but performs all tiling in memory. Photopaint has extensive WYSIWYG controls over the placement of the image on the tiled pages, including number of tiles in both directions, offsets from the margins, percent overlap between tiles, etc.
Most of the other poster softwares available (search Google for "poster print software") split the difference between these two extremes. I haven't found any of them all that compelling to use, however. Most of them are tarted up with "skins" and self-promotion.
If you are considering to include poster printing in XnView in the future, I think a fresh start with fresh thinking would be best.

- PosteRazor (Open Source)
The PosteRazor cuts a raster image into pieces which can afterwards be printed out and assembled to a poster. As input, the PosteRazor takes a raster image. The resulting poster is saved as a multipage PDF document. An easy to use, wizard like user interface guides through 5 steps. PosteRazor is available as a Windows and as an OSX version.
- Posteriza (Freeware)
Posteriza enables you to create poster or banner size prints from your digital images. The program slices the images into multiple parts and makes them fit into a number of regular size pages (A4, A3, letter, etc.), which can then be assembled after printing. It automatically includes margins to overlap and glue the pages. In addition, you can add up to 4 lines of text, as well as a frame to enhance the looks. The program is easy to use, and offers easy configuration and previews of the results. You can create regular size posters, wall posters or anything in between, although you should use a high resolution image for larger printouts in order to produce quality results. The program can also save the output as JPG files, allowing you to use 3rd party printing services instead of your own printer.
- RonyaSoft
- Poster Forge (Freeware)
Poster Forge is a new software tool that allows you to quickly make your own impressive posters without any efforts and totally for free. It provides you with carefully made templates for creation of inspirational, motivational, movie or old west “Wanted” posters on your computer. With the help of a special built-in utility, you can print big size posters and hang them on the wall. What is more, you can publish your new posters in the Internet (myspace, livejournals, flickr, etc.). Don't wait, put your creative ideas in your new posters with Poster Forge at any time, any place and share them with your friends and colleagues.
- ProPoster (Shareware)
ProPoster is software for big banner printing, sign printing, poster printing. Any picture, digital photo, Microsoft Word or Excel document can be used to create the poster. It can print standard format (A0, A1, A2) poster or custom large poster. Just select a image, specify the size and send to the printer. Use glue to put separate parts together and the poster is ready. Make a great poster yourself.
- Rasterbator (Freeware)
The Rasterbator is an application which creates rasterized versions of images. The rasterized images can be printed and assembled into enormous (or smaller, if you prefer) posters. Enter the online Rasterbation Gallery to see what the images look like.
The Rasterbator originated as a web application at homokaasu.org, but it has gained so much popularity that the web server occassionally cannot handle the load and a standalone version was in place.
The standalone version is the same as the web version, except that downloading images from the web and image cropping are not supported, and you have to set the output size numerically (number of pages wide/high) rather than using a fancy drag handle. The results are exactly the same.

Hello,
Thanks for the information (even if it's an old post

), very useful tile functionality ... I knew it but never used it

It would be a good idea to integrate it into XnView(MP) (or a particular link to it ... like for panorama softs);-)
... I actually need PoteRazor for Ancestris v0.8 (a Open source too Genealogy software)
