Problem when trying to convert TIF in PDF

Hello !

I have problems when trying to convert tif documents in Pdf.
In fact, it seems that XnView does not recognize the kind of file of the document because it does the same thing when trying to convert a basic Word document.

I downloaded the latest version and have the same problem. I uninstalled and installed again : same thing.

I am used to search my documents in the left column, and to select in the first great window in the right part.

When I choose the first page of the document, XnView immediatly closes and I have a message saying that "XnView for Windows had encountered a problem and need to close", and so on.

I must say that I scanned a very specialized dictionary for my private usage when I have to travel or for holidays and I did that more than one year ago in tif, but it would be easier for me to have it in PDF and be able to make an index.

So, as you can imagine I have hundreds of pages to do. I do not know why, I was able to do the first 744 ones... and nothing after.
I was also able to do again these first 744 (asking as the first time to do the whole thing, i.e. more than 2000), and it stops just at the end of these 744 !

I tried to put the thing in files with only 500 pages. Same problem.

In the beginning, I was able to obtain that it began the job, but it did not do more than one page, beginning by the end.
I changed the path (I am used to put entire names because I hate abreviations and wanted the things to be very well ordered... and I know it is wrong... so I put the files quite directly in the disk... Nothing !).

Before I finish to pull out all my hair, please, if you know what I have to do, tell me what. I would be very grateful if you do.

Thank you in advance and excuse, please, my terrible English.

P.S. I forgot to tell you that I have Vista and I bought my computer last May.

Better in French ?

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !

• AFAIK, one can't convert *.TIF (multi-page, if I got you alright) into *.PDF directly.

- You can create *.PDF from scattered files, that works fine, same to create *.TIFF,
but there is no bridge between the two formats… :|
…Thank you in advance and excuse, please, my terrible English. …
• What about the FRENCH SECTION HERE ? Image

 Kind regards,

Easiest way to convert it would be to install the free "cute pdf writer" program http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp ,open the tiff in xnview, then print it using the pdf writer. It will print it to a pdf file (make sure to check the "insert all pages" option on the printer tab o the print dialog).

Alternatively, you could open the tiff in xnview, click tools->multipage file->extract all into and extract all the pages of the tiff into seperate images, then go tools->multipage file->create and create a pdf file using the images you just extracted.

Thanks to all of you

Please excuse my silence: I am very busy again since I am not yet in "holidays".
I am very ashamed for not having thanked all of you who tried to help me.

I just wanted to tell you that I tried again to convert my TIF files in PDF (I was curiously able to do it today with some GIF in PDF) though I was unable to do anything since a few days.
I took only a much smaller part of my files in the same time (not more than a hundred), beginning by the end (not to have the first file closing the program)… and I was able to do all the first part (I told you I divided my files in several parts)… except the first one, the famous p.745 of my dictionary ! I do not know how I will be able to do it but… I do not despair.

When I just click on this file (right or left, it is the same), it immediately closes the program and I get the message: “XnView for Windows a cessé de fonctionner, Windows est en train de chercher une solution”, then a second message with quite the same thing, and… nothing !

I told you I had little problems on my computer theses days, but I used several antispyware and antiviruses, and have even now, I do not know why, some internet pages who have problems to be opened.

Thank you all again and I will give you the news until the problem will end.
