Just checking if this survey request is real or spam

Hi Pierre and/or moderators,

I just received an e-mail from <-- removed* --> asking me to participate in a survey. Something that looked suspicious to me in the e-mail was that it hasn't any direct link to the survey and also that I couldn't find any topic named 'Research on XnView community' here in the forum.

I would like to know if this is something real or just a spam with bad intentions. The complete e-mail is attached at the end of this message.

I thank you in advance for your time and help.

Best Regards,

Luis Dávila

Dear XnView forum user,

A PHD student has made a survey about the XnView online community. It
is anonymous and very little personal data is asked for. Please
participate in the survey (~10 minutes time) to help him and forum moderators
gain a better understanding about those who discuss XnView.
You'll find more details in topic 'Research on XnView community'.

Thank you very much & best regards,

Pierre

Hello cubby_mex,

this is actually a legit email:
helmut (Site Admin) wrote:Pierre will send out a short note to all forum users and point to this survey. Cross fingers that many people join!
Nonetheless, we appreciate your concern, as we all have to be cautious and beware of scammers these days.

Thank you very much for your quick response.
I just used the links you provide and filled the survey though I found some questions not quite understandable in their meaning and others not fully applyable to my personal case as they refer to paying users and I'm a free one as the use I have for your software is only private.
I'm not consider myself as an 'expert' in the XnView program but I find it very easy to use and reliable. The version I use of XnView is an old one because the only time I upgrade, the feature I use most was lost (converting .WBZ files to .JPG) and only after the help found in this forum I was able to recover this feature in the new version. Never tried to upgrade again since then.
As a participant in the Forum, I would say that I'm basically a reader for the discussions and doing it, I learn pretty much about different uses of XnView that I never think before.
Thank you for all the good things you provide me with so much dedication.
If you ever need some help from a spanish language speaker (Mexico) for any of your projects, please do not hesitate to ask me. I will happily do my best.
Warm Regards
Luis Davila
