Keyboard navigation fails when 'Small toolbar' is off

I use keyboard navigation to sort through comic books where I use the TAB key.
Currently, the TAB order is like this:
folder tree --> small toolbar --> thumbnails --> folder tree

The problem is, I don't have the small toolbar visible, but after I press TAB, the caret goes to the 'invisible' small toolbar.
Could you please change this so that TAB stops are only effective when you actually show the controls?

In my case this would change to:
folder tree --> thumbnails --> folder tree

Thanks for the excellent picture viewer. I've been using it after I came from AcdSee and FastStone.

I can't confirm this issue.

XnView v1.92, Windows XP SP2.

I can't reproduce the problem, either. :-|

There is some strange behaviour, though:
As long as no thumbnail is selected, the focus seems to vanish somewhere in the void when pressing "Tab". By using the cursor keys one can see that the focus was actually on the file list. But this problem occurs with or without the small toolbar. So I guess that this is not your problem - is it?

Please consider the following screenshot:
Image

To reproduce the problem, do the following:

1.
When I press TAB repeatedly, the focus goes to: 1 --> 2 --> 3 --> 1 (this is correct)

2.
Now, when I go to the View menu and deselect 'Small toolbar', the toolbar (marked with 2 in my screenshot) will disappear.

3.
When I press TAB repeatedly, the focus goes to: 1 --> 3 --> 1 (this is
correct).

4.
Quit XnView.

5.
Restart XnView.

6.
When I press TAB repeatedly, the focus goes to: 1 --> 2 --> 3 (this is NOT correct)

The problem is that the keyboard focus is on the 'Small toolbar' even though it is not visible. You can verify this by selecting a couple of folders in the folder tree in succession, then press TAB (so the focus is lost). Then, press the <ARROW> cursor key on your keyboard, and note that the folder changes.

Thank you for your detailed description, iycgtptyarvg. I can reproduce the problem, now. (XnView 1.92 on Windows XP SP2).

The focus goes 1 Folder Tree -> 2 Combobox of smalltoolbar -> 3 File list, although the small toolbar is not visible :bug:.

Great! Because I use XnView a LOT to sort out comicbooks and such, I exclusively use the keyboard (I know quite a lot of shortcuts!).

I hope this will be fixed so I won't have to go to the View menu every time to temporarily fix this.

Hmm.. then you could try HotkeyP, great small tool, free, 106kB only, more here. Another link: How to change, or/and create new keyboard shortcuts.

I see it was fixed in v1.93.1

Thanks a lot, this makes working with XnView a lot more pleasant for me.
