Tag Behavior with Compare

If one tags a few images, then selects non-tagged images to compare, Compare will display the tagged images, not the selected ones.
IMHO this isn't the right behavior.
If more than one image is selected in a folder, Compare should display the selected images. If only one image is selected in a folder (or none is), then Compare should display the tagged images in the same folder, if more than one is tagged.
If more than one image is selected in a folder AND more than one image is tagged in the same folder, then Compare should ask me which group (selected or tagged) to display.
Thanks for listening!

I support this. XnView should behave the way you have described above.

Yes, i think that it's a good behaviour. Currently i agree that there is a problem...
But this behaviour must perhaps be standard behaviour for other operations (copy to/move to/slideshow, convert/....???
What do you think?

"Copy/Move to" too? So if you have some tagged files, and want to "copy to" the selected file, it's no more possible????

Good point! Understanding (and anticipating?) the context for the requested operation is important. I'm not sure what is the best way.
Perhaps a "Scope" section added to the relevant dialogs.
For instance:

I don't know. So currently i have only changed the behaviour for convert/slideshow/compare/web create/Contact sheet/Create AVI/Create Pan/create multi tiff/Rename sequence

In Beta3 this still doesn't work right...
If two images are selected and (also) two images are tagged in the same view, then XnView always compares the two tagged images.
IMHO Selection should have precedence over Tags and/or XnView should prompt for which to compare...
Thanks for listening!

Yes, this is the right behavior,
It was almost the same case for the: Jpeg lossless transformations / Rotates in september 2007:

But you must see the prompt if you have 2 selected images and 2 tagged images!! You haven't click on 'don't show again'?

Ah! That's very possible!
But...
Where does one re-enable dialogs? I've never done that!

Pierre:
About this topic: 'don't show again', it will be interesting to also have an option in XnView to reset this flag to default (because by hand in the ini file, it's not very usefull), but of course postponed to an other release .
JohnFredC:
Just delete in the ini the key: [Browser] \ ShowAgain=xxxx key to have the default setup.
(or set to: ShowAgain=268435423 to avoid only the tutorial)

Uhh, bitwise combining setting values. That makes it very hard/impossible for the users to manually set/unset a specific Show/Hide setting for a specific message.
@Pierre:
Perhaps you can split this up into individual settings, occasionally.

Could you try to delete the ShowAgain=, and tll me if it's good?
Perhaps i need to add an option to reset it in option dialog?
