XnView Software

Hi,

I use XNView on a daily basis to resize many images with the transformation menu in Batch command. However, I have noticed recently that my CPU is using 90% and over when processing and I am unable to perform any other tasks whilst this is happening. It also tends to start off processing really quickly and then gets progressively slower whilst working it's way through the images.

The images that I tend to resize aren't original hi-res images as they would have been pre-processed before I get hold of them. I have tried running XNView in compatibility mode as well to see if this helps but it doesn't unfortunately. Are there any settings or do you have any suggestions for me so that I can continue to use this excellent software?

I still have this as a problem. Is it just me or does anyone else suffer from a high CPU Usage?

Even after the resize has taken place the CPU is still very high and the only way I can reduce it is to close XNView down and re-open it.

Not sure if this will help anyone else but I seem to have fixed the high CPU problem.

I ran a disk defrag on my machine and now when I use XnView to resize my images it absolutely flies through them now. Seems a bit random but it worked for me.

Personally, I do not have this kind of problem (for me CPU at almost 100% is normal during the batch processing, but not after), but anyway thank you for your information (the disk defrag issue).

Good that you have found the reason yourself, gavp. I guess your harddisk is pretty full - right? The culprit for high cpu load and harddisk activity can also be the Windows indexing service or a Virus scanner.

Yeah it is quite a full disk so this may well have been the culprit. I'm glad I found the problem in the end and I hope that this thread may help somebody else out in the future.
