Hello!
When I resample a picture .. which method is the best?
Where are the pros/cons?
Is there an overview? (Gaussian, Nearest neighbour,...)

Lasse

Check that one
In addition to making an excellent Editing software (Picture Window Pro), Jonathan Sachs has written some excellent White Papers. Check this one about Resampling methods (PDF).

Re: Resampling
"Lanczos" resampling is recommended and gives best results in most cases. More details in the document Olivier pointed to.Lasse wrote:When I resample a picture .. which method is the best?

Re: Resampling
I did some resample-examples by myself!
See it here:

Some more examples (other images, shrinking) will follow.

Lasse

Re: Resampling
Lasse,
The important bit of your tests is that you do Upsizing, which means enlarging an existing image. The algorithms will surely do that, but for all I know they work better for downsizing. When downsizing (making the image smaller) the results may differ and I think that Lanczos should be one of the best, then.
Greetings, Helmut
thank you for testing this and providing this info to other people!Lasse wrote:I did some resample-examples by myself!
