XnView Software

Hi!

I have some images that have some IPTC metadata and some that have EXIF metadata and I would like to "synchronize" some of metadata in the images so that pictures that have only EXIF data, for example the fields "Image description", "Artist", "Copyright" and "User comment" could be copied to the relevant IPTC fields and same thing with images that contain IPTC metadata, I would like to copy the relevant fields to the EXIF format, in reality I only need to copy the "Image description" or "Caption" and the "Artist" field but it would be great if one could choose which fields to copy. I don't know if this is possible with Xnview.
The reason for this is that I have some software that won't read IPTC, only EXIF comments so I don't want to have to re-enter everything on all the pictures. Is this possible with Xnview or some other program?

For all I know, XnView can export EXIF data, but not export IPTC data. And import of meta data is not supported at all. So I think that the current version of XnView can't help you.

I think that importing EXIF data is not needed too often, since EXIF should be written by the camera and if it's not written it's sort of useless to write it manually.

But exporting and importing IPTC should be really added.

A program called Exifer might help you.
I used this program (among others) prior to switching completely to XnView

It has not been updated for over 2 year but it can backup and restore exif data.
I used to use the restore feature after manipulating images. And it should be possible to use for importing.
This program also supports IPTC but I have never used that for metadata.
