Documenation on how to use TAG & Categories

I am looking for documentation or forum topic which will help me understand how to use tags & categories. I played a bit with itbut I am a bit confused:

1) When I select a category where images where added previously how do I go back to show all images(one click), not only the one belonging to the category, I checked the filter but didn't find a way to do a display all and I had to select another folder and go back to the initial folder or use the back arrow icon?

2) When I tag a few images, display the tagged images and then select another folder then all images are automatically untagged, is it normal behavior (not persistent )?

3) When I add a image to a rating category, the image rating at the top of the thumbnail is not updated automatically ?

4) What is the use of the click box on the left side of the category and why it is used on the rating & colour label ?, when I click a specific category it displays the images which belong to this category but when I unclick it I would expect the image to disapear and that doesn't seem to be the case

5) When using rating, how to I show all images rated or unrated , or images belonging to 2 or more rates?

6)Is tagging related to a specific folder or work cross folder.

Otherwise I have been using XNView for more a year and this is a great tool .

Thank You,

Jean

I found an answer to my question on Tags which are cleared or not which is a selectable option

I am also confused, if I have a category and a subcategory, then I would expect the category to automatically show everything in its subcategory
but it seems I have to click each one individually.

that is a good idea, then if you click the route you will know all the pictures that you have already tagged

and then we can copy them to the IPTC keywords one day :)

Hi!
I'm also confused about this topic, why nobody answers?
One more question: how to add similar category to several files/folders (all sub folders files)?
If there is no way to do this, how to use categories? Check every file individually? It's not possible.

Select your files, and drag&drop them to the category

How does one create a sub category? Cannot create a (indented) child category underneath the parent.

Thanks, I got that. But how do you move children around (assign them to a new parent category) after you have a structure already in place.

Yeah!!! It works! Thank you, Pierre! But this wasn't obvious!
Why tabs on preview pane disappears, when I select more, than one file? I could use it to set categories.

And I'm interested in 5th original question:
5) When using rating, how to I show all images rated or unrated , or images belonging to 2 or more rates?
And what, if I want to see the best shots from specific folder? So, how can I use the rating? Why not to add search ability using rating and categories? And increase search speed by indexing image database...

One more question: how to add categories fast in full screen mode? Is there any shortcuts (hotkeys)? - It would be useful.

And thank you one more time for the best freeware image viewer ever!
