Slide show fails to be visible

I have 3 computers (new desktop, laptop and old desktop) all with WinXP.
XnView works well on 2 of these, but on the new desktop, when I choose to create Slide Show, I select the images to be viewed, click "Add" and then "OK". The Window then appears which allows configuration of the Slide Show display. But then when I click on "Go", the usual slide show does not appear, and the mouse-cursor becomes invisible (as it would do for a slide show display)- Then if I press Esc, the cursor reappears.
Presumably, there must be some conflict here, though the other programs installed on this PC are generally the same as on the other two.
Any ideas ???

You may be on the right lines.
If I interpret your question correctly, you are implying that XnView is using 2 monitors for its full display. I don't have a second monitor, but I have been puzzled because I have noticed that if I move the cursor to the left side of the picture, it clearly stops at the edge, but on the right side it disappears into space - so perhaps the computer is expecting a second monitor to be there - which may be where the Slide Show would be displayed. (???)
If this is the case, either I somehow have to fit a second monitor, or can I change the configuration so that Slide Show appears over the main XnView screen as on my other two computers ? Sorry, I am not the most computer- literate of people so I am probably missing the obvious solution !

Pierre,

Problem solved !

I have just gone into Control/Display etc and see that I can connect an analogue TV to my new PC - which I have done , and find it is indeed displaying the Slide Show (though perhaps not with the same resolution as on the monitor)
Thanks for setting me on the right lines.
