XnView Version: 1.93.6

Some bitmap(*.bmp) images can'be read and shows blank in XnView.

This bug has lasted through several versions of XnView, including the latest one.

The specific bitmap images just show white blank in the thumbnail window, and in the preview and view window you can only see the gray background.

There are no error messages displayed about this problem. The information about image format(like 1024x768x32) is displayed correctly on the status bar.

I had loved XnView so much because it is the fastest and lightest image viewer application with sufficient function I've experienced, but now I'm using ACDSee because XnView cannot show many of my bitmap images captured by my HDTV application because of the problem I wrote above.

I hope the brilliant programmer of XnView soon fix this small but fatal bug and so give me more chances to enjoy this cool image viewer. :)[/img]

This helped me also! I just upgraded from an earlier version of xnview to the latest, v1.93.6, and my .png format images created in the earlier version were showing up black. So your solution for the bmp problem works for those problem png images too - thanks!

BTW, since this apparently is a common occurence, maybe it should be in the F.A.Q.?

In the Manual later

• Glad to hear that's helpful.
…BTW, since this apparently is a common occurence, maybe it should be in the F.A.Q.?
• Certainly, but it's the forum Admin's job, I have no post at this…
- However, we'll try to add it in OUR MANUAL when we update it (after the 1.94 final is released).
