1) It would be great if "Fit Window to Image" didn't allow newly opened images to exceed screen size. Right now, when I open an image that is bigger than the screen, I end up looking at a small central portion of it. I'd prefer if "Fit WIndow to Image" detected this and fit the image to screen in that case. Of course, the user could zoom into the image later.

2) "Fit Window to Image" doesn't work for me by itself, unless I check "Force Fit Window" in Options. Why not just skip this duplication and make "Fit Window to Image" do whatever "Force Fit Window" is doing? No need for a "Force" option, if the function is doing its job right.

I would like to see this feature as well.

I used to use ACDsee, and it had a similar feature this.


I'll try to explain this in a little bit more detail.

The "Fit window to image" is my viewing mode of choice.

It currently does fit the window to the image, but not for large images.

For smaller images, it will almost behave correctly. When using page down/up to navigate through the images, sometimes it will show a scrollbar for small images.

Here's an example:

1) I open up an image


2) I press page down to go to the next image

You can see a scrollbar is here when it shouldn't be at all

3) I press page down again to go to another image


4) Finally, I press page up to go back to the previous image

As you can see, the scrollbars are gone now




For large images, it will make the window size full-screen, but it will not shrink the image to the window size.

So perhaps it can be a new resize feature or a checkbox for it.

Basically, for small images that are less than the size of your screen, it should fit the window to those images. For images larger than your screen, it should have the window fill the screen, but also shrink the image to fit the window.

I know you can use / to auto-size the image to the window once it's already a full-screen window, however when scrolling through a folder full of wallpapers, it's annoying to have to press / every time just to see the whole thing.

And 'fit to desktop' is not what you want?
