entering line break in comment for jpeg

When entering jpeg comments/description via Ctrl D, when I want to start a newline, using Enter key, XNVIEW closes the comment. Yet I can paste in from another editor with newlines inserted. How do I start a newline in these comments?
Thanks,
Ron

Hello ! Welcome aboard !
•
Ctr+D creates a comment (in a) <
descript.ion> text file. That comment is displayed in the status bar
( a single rank possible), and as an info in the browser (if you are using such displays).
- The “Line wrapping” is not supported in the <
descrip.ion> files, at least currently by using
the
common specs of
4-DOS¦4NT which holds the thingy…
• However, there are enhanced specs with which a break mark can be set, i.e. :
either
\n or
\r, or
#10; #13; and the like…
- These enhanced specs allow also to write very long comments (that's impossible with the common specs).
- To get that, the Author ought contact
4-DOS¦4NT because that needs a kind of agreement, IIUC…

Kind regards,
Claude

Ctrl D is writing comment in JPG file, not descript.ion

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
These comments, after entry, are not the upper descript.ion part (don't want them there) but the lower JPEG comment part of the screen which pops up when Ctrl D is entered in the xnview 'image' file line item view. These are put directly into a .jpg file itself.
Should be able to put breaks in, since can copy in from any other editor just fine. Had tried the /n unsuccesfully.
Interesting to hear of 4DOS,...used to use that many years ago. Now Windows XP.
