Hello,,

I have attempted a search of this topic but nowhere was able to find instructions on how to crop an image.

The help files does inidicate that the choice is in the Edit menu but I have no option listed there. Is this possible with XnView? I have attempted to do this to either jpg's or bmp's.

Thanks,

Michael

Got it.

If I interpret your second post right, you have found the solution yourself.

If you want to edit/manipulate an image, you have to first open it. You open an image by using double-click, Enter key, or menu "Tools > Open".
In chapter "Main Window" of the XnView help document you'll find a description of the modes in XnView.

I know how to crop a rectangle.

Can I crop an irregularly sized object, such as a face, so I can brighten it and adjust it's color?

In XnView 1.74, only cropping with rectangle shape is possible. The freeware Photofiltre (http://www.photofiltre.com/) can do that, for example.
