Problem opening certain .tiffs

i use xnview to receive faxes and for the most part, xn is able to open files. but occasionally, some .tiffs give me a "Error reading the file" error." thumbnails of the image come up ok, but thumbnails within a folder icon doesn't show it. the images also come up fine w/ ms document viewer.
here's a sample pic (sorry for megaupload--didn't know what other sites were better):

thanks for all the help!

Hello !
• I got the file using Opera, but you must :
- Type the 3 characters of "human recognition" at top-right,
- Wait for
40 seconds to get the "Free download" button…
- That hosting is a stick in the b** !

Hello !
• I can confirm, here I get a "Read error" with all versions of XnView, 1.95.2 and also old ones like 1.90 A3,
1.82.4, 1.80.3, while it works OK in other viewers like Imagine, SGViewer (as Total Commander add-ons), Universal Viewer…
• Temporarily, I put the file as a RAR archive available
HERE, nothing to type, no adv., no delay !

I can confirm -
it opens with
- MS Paint
- MS office Picture Manager
- "convert to PDF with PDFCreator"
- MS Windows Picture and Faxviewer
- "Imagine-Plugin" for Total Commander
it does NOT open with
- XNview
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer 7

Strange, I can not confirm this problem with the XnView v1.95.2.
I can open it without any problem under Ubuntu hardy + Wine1.1.7.
Maybe a related OS problem ?

thanks everyone for looking into this. i can rehost it on something else if the other link doesn't work. anyways, i'm not sure if its an os related issue-on certain programs (ie. MS office document imager), i can open it fine, but on xnview, it doesn't want to open. it is a little frustrating, because i have some files in ccitt 3 format that i wanna convert over to the 4 format...

CCITT group4 is interesting,
Your file test.tif CCITT group3 = 46ko
Saved as CCITT group4 = 14ko (with ~ same quality)
FYI: .tif seems to be not allowed with imageshack, I have tried without success (converted automatically to .png).

I guess the site was wrong
http://imageshack.us/ works. (TIFF

PNG).
The file from Clo's mirror in XnView (win) v1.95.2 opens without any prob.
Yeah CCITT is generally for some fax sheets.
@dk:
For documentation of correspondence there is also PDF and PNG a good choice, if you want to save your work.
The integrated ZIP compression should also be no prob for readers (at least browser).
Some TIFF decoder might not accept all kind of TIFs like TIFF(ZIP) in Paint.

Hello,
Yes but I mean, for information, it's not possible to upload a .tif sample via imageshack because an automatic conversion is done to .png (related to the second post from Peter2 ).

• BTW, it's alright the file I mirrored on my site as RAR, and XnView does
not display it like I said above
-
RGBA, which OS are you running ? Or is your PC blessed ? -

- I tried in XnView MP, nope, nothing happens, nothing is displayed but it doesn't hang (for once…).
- Here, XP-Pro SP1 (Fr)

Just for information, Properties under XnView 1.95.2
(again the file from dk link works here without problem with v1.95.2 on my system)
(BUT strange, Does not work under XnView MP 0.1 Windows or Linux)

Works only when…

Hello !
• It works
only when the box Option >> Read/Write
[×] Ignore read errors is ticked ! Or else, nope.
- Since other viewers open it without such an option, I wonder what the "
Read error" is…

Bingo Clo,
If this option is ON, that works !
Options\General\ Read/Write [×] Ignore read errors is ticked
(tested with a fresh XnView 1.95.2 install)
