only shrink large images AND adjust the window to all images

Unfortunately it's not possible to do this :/
The window can be adjusted to the image size, but large images are not adjusted to the desktop (they show scrollbars instead).
Apart from that even some small images cause scrollbars namely when the image is smaller than the menubar and the menubar is wrapped in 2 lines

That's my biggest problem with XnView. Is there a workaround at least?
The closest setting I could get is this:
Option>View>View>Auto Image size = Fit window to image
Option>View>View> = Force XnView to fit image
but as said large images are still not downscaled to fit on my desktop. This is possible (and standard) in ACDSee. Any hidden registry tweaks for XnView?

Please add this feature in 1.9.x. I think it would be a great benefit for XnView and it would take less than 5 minutes to implement it.

Thanks, this works (more or less). It leads to a bug: if this is enabled and the window is adjusted to the image, the size of the browser window gets affected, too.
By doubleclicking on the image the window keeps the size of the image and doesn't revert back to the size which the browser used at the last time
BTW: it would be really great if one could hide the menu bar
in viewer only.
BTW2: maybe there's a chance to speed up the scrolling through image albums (clicking next image => next image ...). IMHO XnView should stop rendering the current image when the user clicks "next image" (or scrolls to the next one) and should start rendering the new image.
