Hello all,

It's possible to change the selected thumbnail border color? On my setup it's blue, but it's somewhat conflicting with my current XP color settings. I'd like to change it to a bright orange or maybe green, but after a few minutes digging in the prefs dialog, I coudn't find anything.

Help?

- If I set "Red", the border is red, if "Brown", it's brown as it should…

• Please, check your <xnview.ini> about its location
(ensure you that you're using the good one) in the Options >> Integration

• Check also the entry:

that's brown here for example with the used colour-code.
- Still for that example, the other colour-codes could work (not supported in all sections¦Entries of the INI file, alas)
RGB : 132 130 66 WITH the spaces !
HTML : #848242
Reverse : $428284
¤ Hence to get Red borders, you might try i.e. RGB :
BorderColor=255 0 0

• Which XnView version are you using, and which Windows ?
- Here, XnView 1.95.3 - Win XP-Pro SP1

The blue border I see on your screen capture is not the border of the thumbnail but the border which indicates that the file or directory is selected !

• Here, the selection is different (fills the empty room on the thumb nail) and the drop-shadow is disabled
(works only with a 32 BPP screen I don't set usually).

I know that, and that's exactly the border I'm talking about, like I said on my initial post: "It's possible to change the selected thumbnail border color?"

Clo, it's set to zero because that's not the border in question. That border when enabled looks like this on my rig:

- Bad wording, the border of the thumbnail IS that I defined and showed !
- Like Paul-Ouistiti says, that you are talking of is a selection frame which has nothing to do with XnView,
its colour comes and is defined from the Windows theme you are using.
- And you didn't answer :  Which Windows are you running ?
- Like I said above, here the selection does not make a frame :



Full light-orange is the selection, not any extra frame…

Also, thank you Clo for trying to help. Reading back the thread I think I could've been clearer about it being the selected thumb border (english not being my native language blah blah ).

Hi,

I just installed the latest version of XnView and it seems that I can't customize the frame color for selected items. The color still comes from the current Windows color scheme. In my case, this is very ugly. IMHO, I don't see why this particular color must be the one selected for the Windows desktop while (almost) all other colors are customizable. Also, instead of painting the whole frame with a solid color, it would be much better to change the border color. This would be enough and less invading.

Or did I miss something?

You can change the color by using the SelBorderColor setting.

Thanks very much for the quick answer. I used the XnView TweakUI tool and the color value was correctly changed in the INI file. However, XnView appears to ignore it. I switched to the registry for storing the settings. The SelBorderColor value was missing. I added it but it is still ignored.

SelBorderColor should change the color of the blue selection frame shown in the garoto's screenshot and, AFAIK, it's color is not actually taken from the Windows color scheme.

However this selection frame is not shown for files that cannot display a thumbnail and it's not shown at all if you have disabled the thumbnail shadow. In this case XnView uses different kind of selection, shown in the Clo's screenshot, it does use the selection color from the Windows color scheme (I guess this is the selection color you are talking about) and there is no way to change the color.
