XnView Software

Hi,
As High Definition video cameras are now becoming available at consumer prices, there is a need to brows and view HD videos, in particular AVCHD.

I am sure you have already thought about this, so when do you expect to implement it?

I hope this won't happen.. XnView used to be a fast
picture tool and not a full-HD-dolby-theatre-system

What is the problem? XnView already supports 400 formats, most of which I suspect are (almost) never used. My suggestion adds just one more. Furthermore AVCHD is becoming one of the most important formats for video, and will be hard to ignore even in the near future.

One of the greatest virtues of XnView, at least for my use, is its universal browsing capability. I need only one browser to view all my multimedia content. This is truly great for organizing multimedia material. It is not a replacement for home theatre systems.

AFAIK it doesn't even come with video decoders but uses whatever you have installed under Windows (via VfW - NOT DirectShow).

I think the world/market/manufacturers has already chosen.

XnView supports High Definition video in WMV or MPEG4 formats in the slide shows.
The only question is the processor speed, it's reason why I use 720p instead of 1080p.

I have been longing for AVCHD support i XnView ever since I posted this request one year ago.

The other day I happened upon the K-Lite Codec Pack which I installed for a completely different reason.
And behold! Suddenly my XnView 1.97 starts to display thumbnails of .m2t and .m2ts files, and preview these videos like any other. Also works on a second display.
This makes me very happy because I now have one unified browser for all my multimedia files. I no longer need to use Sony's Picture Motion Browser (crap anyway) to view my HD footage. And I can remove one more superfluous application clogging my hard disk.

I have installed the K-Lite Codec Pack Standard which can be downloaded from e.g. here:

Includes a great multimedia player too and is all freeware

I think Xnview could really benefit from using Mplayer for ALL it's video needs. Mplayer is like VLC, it needs no DirectShow, none of this long requirement none of that.

The Windows version of Mplayer is compiled into a single .exe (no more than 15 mb) and can play many many file formats (as much as VLC supports) all Mplayer needs is a UI on Windows. Xnview could become another Mplayer frontend like SM Player.

I´m using XnView since 2 years. Great program! Thanks!!!
But I have a problem with the mts-files (avchd lite) of my new camera. I only can see the thumbnails but the video can not be played in XnView.
It works with avi- and mov-files, but not with mts.
So I have to change the program for every mts-video, when I want to get an overview of all pictures AND videos. That´s very awkward.

What am I doing wrong? Or doesn´t it work with XnView? Then I hope you can change it ...

Fortunately I´ve installed the codec-pack only on my Vista-Laptop and NOT on my Win7-PC.

MTS-playback works with WMP, VLC ...
But not with XnView. What am I doing wrong?
Or is it not yet supported by XnView?
