XnView Software

XnView is an excellent tool for browsing collections of video clips, and clips and still pictures in the same folder.
However, for this purpose I find some of the functionality annoying:

When a thumbnail is clicked in the browser pane, the video clip is selected and immediatly starts playing. The latter should not happen.
It causes problems when you only want to select a clip for e.g. moving to another folder, or you want to select a range of clips (you click on the first clip in the range and it starts playing - you click on the last clip and it starts playing too). If you rightclick a clip it also starts playing.

And by the way, the same happens when browsing audio files.

I suggest rather to have the following behavior:
- when a video thumbnail is clicked, it is only selected NOT played, except possibly displaying the first frame in the preview pane.
- to play the clip, hit e.g. Enter.
- if multiple clips are selected, upon Enter they should be played in sequence.
- rightclicking a clip should not start playing it

Thanks for the suggestion.
Unfortunately it doesn't work. I have deselected the Auto Play option, but videos still play when selected.
Same is the case for audio files.

Is there an error in v1.97?

Funny thing. It did not work either, so I investigated more.

I found that I also had enabled Preview > Use fullscreen on second monitor for previewing
then apparently, a video will always play when selected, disregarding the the other options.
When I turn off Fullscreen on second monitor and also turn off File List > Video files Show in preview, then the video will not play but only show the first frame as a still in the Preview window.
But unfortunately, then I can find no way of playing the video in the Preview window, except when I push the Fullscreen button,
then the video plays fullscreen on second monitor always, independent of whether the option Fullscreen is set or not.
If I turn back on only File List > Video files Show in preview, then the video plays in the Preview window if Autoplay is also enabled. If Autoplay is disabled, the video player window appears (but without showing the first frame) and a push of the play button is needed to play the video.

I think the solution here is first of all to make the Fullscreen on second monitor behave the same way as the small Preview window.
Second I would very much like to have showing of the first frame in the player window also when Autoplay is disabled.
