Adding "Burn CD" command to toolbar

Hi

Since two hours I am looking for a way how to add the command to burn selected pictures to CD to the XnView toolbar.

I can burn to the CD via the menus using "Tools > Plug-In > CD Nero" without problem. It would be great to apply this command to a nice big button in the toolbar.

I tried to do this in "Options > Interface > Toolbar > Buttons"

I even created a custom icon.

Unfortunately I can't find an appropriate command in the drop-down list. The command "cmd_BurnCD" doesn't do anything. I didn't find out how to call the Nero plugin otherwise.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Uli

PS: I am using XnView Standard Ver. 1.95.4.

:) Hello ! Welcome aboard !

• Alas, all internal commands are not available fom the awful drop-down lists in the buttons configuration…
… despite requests for ages, for instance please consult THIS THREAD. Feel free to add your support there ;)

Aside, the term "Burn" is in fact improper in English although used everywhere, in French it's "to engrave" (graver).
The data are engraved on the disk with a laser, no more…
- Anyway, nice icon ! I like it !

A commands manager is not really what I am looking for. I just want to customize the toolbar with a button to write the selected pictures to CD. The project you pointed to seems to have a more general approach.

I am just configuring a new netbook as chrismas gift for my mother. XnView seems to be the ideal foto viewer for her, as it is easy to use and not bloated with functions she won't need. An easy way to burn her fotos to CD from within XnView without needing to start Nero would be a nice feature though. She will not memorize "Tools > plugins > whatever" I am afraid.

Any more ideas?
Thanks!
Uli

  • Go to Tools » Options... » Interface » Toolbar » Buttons » Buttons displayed » Browser.
  • Click on the Append button.
  • In the drop-down list next to Command, scroll down to cmd_BurnCD and select it.
  • Enter the path to cd.ico into the field next to Icon file.

Unfortunately this is exactly what I did and it didn't work. Nothing happens if I click the new button afterwards. Can't imagine what I am doing wrong. :(

I have already tested this on another computer, with Nero 6 and Nero 8, with the "complete" and the "standard" version of XnView 1.95.4. The Nero plugin itself works fine if I start it over the "tools > plugin" menu.

Maybe you like to try out the steps yourself? Would be great! Thanks in advance.

Hello _uli_ :-)

unfortunately I don't have Nero installed on my PC.
  1. First I select a bunch of thumbnails in the browser.
  2. Then I go to Tools » Plugin » CD (Nero) (1.0).
  3. I get an error message: “Cannot connect to NeroAPI”.
If I click on the button for cmd_BurnCD in the toolbar instead of executing the command from the menu, nothing happens (not even the tooltip shows up). :bugconfirmed:

Thanks for your efforts! Sounds like the same problem.

Maybe someone knows a workaround? Or perhaps there is an older version or a beta where this "cmd_BurnCD" function is not broken?
Thanks a lot!
