What type of XnView free version must I download?

Hello, I'm new here! :) A friend told me about XnView and I was surprised at how much file formats it supported so I decided to try it out myself.

So I get to the download page of the XnView website and was confronted with choices of what I can download. I was confused of what must I download so I tried searching around here in the forums and got very little information about them. So I still can't figure out how they differ from each other and what they are for.

I would be most likely using XnView to convert my bitmap images to jpeg, however this is the only feature that I am aware of but I would like to know more about its other features.

So if anybody can post here what other features does the free version of XnView have and also a brief explanation of how each of the download differs from each other (or maybe explain to me what are they) would be of great help to me.

Thank you so much to those who'll be reading this and to those who'll be answering my post. Thank you again and good day. :D

So the standard package is enough for you.
You can download specific plugins after the installation....

It doesn't make a lot of difference which version you download. All the extra stuff in the standard & full versions can be added to the minimal version by downloading the right plugins (likewise the stuff in the full version can be added to standard via plugins). The minimal version would be more than enough for the use you described.
As far as zip vs exe, it's mostly personal choice & how comfortable you are using your computer. The exe is simplest, but the zip is just a matter of unzipping it wherever you want it.

I've copied the texts from the English XnView download page and added a bit.

Basically, you can convert each of the download packages (Minimal, Standard, or Complete) into any other by manually adding or deleting files.

Minimal version
For the spartans and those who want to add the plug-ins and add-ons manually. Has minimal footprint: Only English on Screen language, no plug-ins and add-ons, no help file. For those who want to have it even smaller: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... tallation?.

Standard version
Version for most users. All languages and most important plug-ins are included.

Complete version
Version for those who want it all: All languages included. Almost all plug-ins and add-ons included. XnView ShellExtension

Yes, XnView shell extension can be installed seperately. Download links are available on the normal download page.

I might uninstall my standard version and just install the complete version if ever I find Nconvert, Media Detector and XnView v1.93.1 for U3 USB Key useful to my needs. :D

Thank you so much for all those who are helping me :D

Yes, nconvert is a bit more difficult to use. See topic How to use nconvert.

We like answering and helping, shoot, but please browse the XnView forum a bit and use the Image Search facilty of the forum before posing more questions.

Oh, ok sir I'm sorry for asking too much questions. I tried researching about it already but could not understand them a little that's why I asked about them. Thank you so much for those who helped and to Sir Pierre who has created this wonderful program. Thank you, thank you. I'll be lurking around the forums now. :D
