How to batch convert 1024x768 jpeg to 1440x900

Hi everybody.
I got a 19 inch widescreen monitor for xmas and would like to batch convert the hundreds of wallpapers I have to the new resolution of 1440x900. Currently all of them are at 1024x768. So far, the best I can do is 1200x900. Does anyone know of a quick and dirty way of doing a complete conversion that would utilize all of my new desktop real estate?
Thanks for your help.

Hello ! Welcome aboard !
• Prior : That isn't the right section, your question is general…
• Use
Tools Menu >> Batch Processing >> [Transformations] and choose ”
Resize”,
fill out the entries of the box according to the images you have to enlarge.
- I'ld advise you to try with some copies only to get a clue of how that looks since the pics will be stretched…
- Use rather a method like either
Mitchell or
Lanczos or
Hanning (choose in the bottom dropdown list).

Kind regards,
Claude

Thanks Claude!
I've already done that but since most of my desktops have people or animals or aliens on them, they become distorted when I dont keep the aspect ratio the same...like converting from 1024x768 to 1440x900. However, found a new program googling around called "stream carving with content aware resizing" or something, I understand the gimp has a plugin called liquid rescale that is similiar and it is completely amazing!
We need this in xnview! (please, please, please?)
The seam carving gui they're working on is at

Thanks to everybody for responding!

Why not? it looks to be a very cool way to resize different aspect ratios so that they dont get distorted. What am I missing here?
Hm… Interesting !

Hello !
• Ah ! I missed the main issue about the different new canvas ratio, sorry…
- The
Seam Carving tool seems very interesting! To sum up, roughly :
1. The canvas is enlarged as requested,
2. The patterns are enlarged
regardless the new canvas ratio, but according to each own
pattern ratio.
- Indeed that
might look much better…
• A bit overworked currently, but I'll attempt to give it a try.
+ 1 for that as a plugin or similar stuff working with XnView !

Go man go!
If I could code, I'd be right there with you, but since I am code challenged, I'll just stand on the sidelines and cheer... BTW, the seam carving plugin is already in use in Photoshop, there's also that liquid rescale one that is supposed to be in the Gimp which Is GPL so...
Happy Holidays everybody!

Seam carving is a very interesting technique indeed, would be nice in XnView too of course. For you who want to try it out, do it online with this flash-based tool:

Very cool, though it seems to take awhile to process online. I'd love to see it as part of the xnview batch processing options! Yabadabadoo!
Thanks for the link, Trokken!
