Smart remembering browsing/viewing paths

I have different directories with images and use the root of the drive as the startup-dir when launching the browser, example:
Code: Select all
Tools | Option | Browser | Launch Browser at Startup - Specifief:
- Set to D:\
This is the problem: when I go into one (sub)directory and watch an image in it's full-size and return again, the browsing-mode always starts from the set directory, that is in my case d:\
Maybe it is possible that the last visited directory is remembered, so that continue browsing to the same directory isn't needed (I prefer to launch the browser always from the root due the different image-folders).
Maybe the following option could be added to XnView:
Code: Select all
Tools | Option | Browser | Launch Browser at Startup - Specifief:
a. Set to ...
b. [check...] remember last used directory in case of predefined startup folder
when browsing/viewing images

Could you explain more?
...watch an image in it's full-size and return again...
In fullscreen or window mode? With the Enter key, mouse double click or 1st toolbar button - Open/Browser?
Also make sure you have the latest version 1.74.
There's a small bug (also in v1.74) - if you go to viewer and back to browser with the 1st toolbar button - Browser - you are in the startup directory then - but the image in preview area is right.

Ok, thanx. I thought this was implemented as such and didn't know it was in fact a bug. This brings me on some ideas however: let the user predefine to which directory (s)he always returns after viewing image in viewer (the default could be the last directory, that sounds logical to me). The image in preview area could be set to 'always clear' or 'last image'.

I think it's a bug...
You can switch between the browser and viewer with the mouse double-click - you can go from viewer to browser that way but you can only go from the browser to viewer after double-click to image name/row/thumbnail - not the image preview.
However, you could support my suggestion here -
Show viewer after double click on preview image
Also here is "your"
Browser button bug.
But please be patient, there are many other things to do...

Strange, this doesn't work for me. When I double-click on an image in viewer nothing happens.

Using the Enter or Escape key is indeed a nice workaround at the moment. This makes returning to the last-directory possible. Switching between the last browser directory and viewing using the items under the menubar 'Windows' also works.

That's indeed a nice suggestion.

Probably it's not enabled by default, I think users expect that, so it would be enabled by default...
You can turn it on here: "Options > View > Double-click to go to the browser"

right place

You can turn it on here - Options > View > Double-click to go to the browser
Ok, thanks a lot! I didn't see that option.
