Navigation inside archives

I am unable to move around (go to next image via scroll wheel, space, arrowkeys, etc.) within an archive. I am able to open only one image at a time. To get to another image, I have to go back to the browser and click into it, which creates a new viewing instance. This behavior makes it impractical to view a large sequence of images that have been stored in an archive or to read a scanned document that has been so stored.
