Delay navigation until fully decoded + time delay

A suggestion to improve keybord navigation:
I think keeping the <next> key in depressed state is a fantastic way to navigate a directory of thousands of images while in fullscreen or desktop view. It avoids repetitive use of keyboard, mouse button & wheel (not to mention the old hands). And, it provides finer stop/start control than a quick slideshow of current folder.
While the viewer can navigate in the manner described, it will travel to the next image too quickly to evaluate the content of smaller images. The browser's fullscreen navigation does not have this ability at all. Setting its quick slideshow' timer for rapid preview often results in skipping large images.
Proposal:
1. Delay navigating to next image until current one is completely presented on screen.
2. After image is presented, force a tiny (and adjustable) delay of lets say approximately 350ms before going to the next file.
