searching with keywords

I'm new to XnView, and am trying to search files with keywords in the metadata. Somehow I'm not setting up the search parameters properly, since the search is bringing up unrelated photo files. Is there somewhere in the help section that can lead me through the steps I need to take?

Hello, you can do that, step by step:
Tools\search\look in: "d:\your_folder\your subfolder\" \include subfolders checked\
...Then, into Options, check only the IPTC item \ Keywords \ "your keyword" \ Search.

To follow up, the keywords I enter with Nikon Capture NX are not being recognized by the searches with XnView. Likewise, calling up the photo with XnView and the properties, the keywors do not show up in the IPTC data. Somwhere there's a disconnect. The search includes NEF files. Anyone know what's going on?
