Is there a history of XnView anywhere?

Why it was started?
What was the first operating sysytem it worked on?

When it was started?

The first line of code was in the format's library used by XnView, XnView pocket, NConvert, GFLSDK, ... on an Atari , perhaps in 1990. A first version of nconvert & nview was ported on Silicon workstation. And a first version of a nview with GUI (motif) was written in 1995. And finally on windows.

Why it was started?

Well I think XnView is a great program and I'm always interested in how these things come about.

Was it a college project, did you have a lot of images that needed organising or did you see some other bit of software and said "I can improve on that?"

IRIX is an unusual OS, not very common I would think, what industry were you working in if you don't mind me asking.

• *Were they (nview, nconvert) initially separate programs that you rolled into XnView?
  *What does the name Xnview mean?
  *You seem to be a big fan of unix would you ever consider releasing Xnview as Open Source?
  *Its a great program for organising photos, are you a photographer and do you have any time to yourself to take them after all the work you put into Xnview?
