[1.96] Options when changing size via Batch Processing

Hello everyone,
I stumbled upon another change between version 1.80 (which we had before) and 1.96. When processing more than one file via "Batch Processing" there are several options for changing the size ("Resize") of an image:
In the old version one would put "1200" in both width and height, and select "Keep ratio". Then the longer side of the image was resized to 1200 pixel, no matter if the width or height was longer (new size e.g. 1200x900 or 900x1200).
In the new version it seems to work the same way, but only if you do not select
Fit over (W or H)
Follow orientation (switch W/H)
When using these two options the smaller side is resized to 1200, the image has a size of 1200x1600 or 1600x1200 after the resizing.
I would like to find out more about these two settings, but the help contains nothing about it. On the homepage I also found nothing about it. Is there any explanation on what they are good for, what they should do?
