Directories containing the 'ë' character not displayed

As stated, any directory containing the letter ' ë ' doesn't work in XnView. This letter is a common letter in Dutch (Netherlands).
I haven't tested any other characters with accents, but fixing this bug will probably mean you fix all these letters.

Thanks.

:) Hello !
As stated, any directory containing the letter ' ë ' doesn't work in XnView. This letter is a common letter in Dutch (Netherlands). …
• It exists also in French, although rarely used, it works here like shown below :

• IMHO, you might check the font that your Win is using as default, probably it's an incomplete one which doesn't contain a bunch of upper ANSI characters like this one (#235)…

I'm not sure which font it is, but it's a standard Windows font (WinXp SP3 English version). I don't have any special fonts or themes installed.

See the screenshots below.
In XnView, the word 'Feëerieken' is split in a strange way. Also, I cannot select the directory in XnView.
In Explorer (other screenshot) you can see it working properly.

:) Again…

• Except a font issue, I don't see another reason than a folder name set (or imported) as UNICODE
which is not supported (yet) by XnView-Win.

• Here, the folder in the tree is shown correctly in XnView, because it's an ANSI name :

• A way to know (maybe…) :
- Please, try to display that folder in the Browser of the XnView MP version (it supports UNICODE)…

Ok, I tested it with XnView MP. It works!

To be honest I didn't even know about the existence of XnView MP (Multi-Processing?). It's great to know there will be proper Unicode support. Especially support for multi-processors is REALLY useful! This should really speed up the thumbnail creation on big directories. I have large (1000+) photo directories where each of my photos are about 3MB, so it currently takes ages to create the thumbnails.

I guess we'll just have to wait for a new version then.

:) Again…

• Glad to hear that finally “the game is flushed out” !
- BTW : It's the Multi Platform version, based on a QT-core GUI… Browsing its section here in the board,
you'll get a better clue about it (and various user's opinions :| )…
