XnView Software

Many consider lanczos resampling to be the ""best compromise". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanczos_resampling So it would be great to have it as an option for the slideshow (and other views like fullscreen). It is already available in XnView as an option for resizing in batch processing so hopefully it would not be much work to add it as an option for the slideshow (and other views). Lanczos is available on some other viewers where it really makes a difference when upscaling small images. Possibly it could be slow on certain systems but this is not a problem if it is made optional.

For me the biggest difference is when upscaling certain pictures in the slideshow with high contrast diagonals. Typically skin (arms, legs, neck, etc) against a contrasting background. Sometimes this produces a very jagged and distracting result in the slideshow. Lanczos typically produces a much smoother result. But XnView has many different resampling methods for various needs available for batch processing. Hopefully these could similarly be available as options also in the slideshow.

Thanks for the links. Pierre, the author of XnView, states that In the slideshow, I use the resize feature of Windows, not in view mode. Does this mean the hardware resizing available in the graphics card, primarily used for resizing movies? This is very problematic since this varies a great deal between cheap integrated motherboards graphics and the more expensive and newer video cards. A slideshow could then look quite different on different computers. An option to select one of the fixed resizing methods already available elsewhere in XnView would be a great improvement.
