SKP files unknown when they come from Macintosh

In the usersgroup of SketchUp I was made aware about the possibilities to use XnView for viewing SketchUp files. So I immediately started to look at the program.
The problem I have is that files that I have taken from internet and are very probably created using a PC are visible as "Autodesk SketchUp component (interlaced)".
When I load that file in SketchUp (latest version for Mac) and "save as" it is of an unknown type just as all the skp files created by myself on Mac.
My question is: how to solve the problem?
