Problem with editing Descriptions

Today I did a search (control-F) to find all the pictures in a directory tree with "fav" in the description. XnView found just under 8,000 files. I browsed through the files and edited the description of some of them to add more information. After a while, I noticed that XnView was erasing the old description instead of letting me edit it. It erased the description even if I hit the "cancel" button. After this happened about four times, I closed XnView 1.96. I reopened it and did the search again. This time it found only 4626 pictures with "fav" in the description. Xnview has either deleted the description of more than 3,200 files or it deleted the files.

How sure are you that the problem has been fixed?

Before I use XnView again, I want to back up my descriptions. What is the best way to do this?

Try on 1 or 2 copies of your files

If you use the description, make a backup of descript.ion file
