XnView Software

The View options in the Options menu allow to set "Info in status bar" to either "Description", "Comment" or "Caption".
However, no matter which information I choose to display, the status bar always shows the IPTC Caption field contents. Information from the comment field (inside the jpeg file) or from the descript.ion file are not shown.

Another problem is that the information in the status bar is truncated when the text exceeds a certain length (I guess at about 128 characters), although the available space on the screen for the info field is large enough to accomodate a much longer text string.

XnView version is 1.96 (Feb 24 2009)

The first part of my previous problem description is no longer true. After several restarts of XnView the problem disappeared and now the Comment or Description are shown in the status bar as desired. I don't know what prevented XnView to do this before I submitted the bug report, although I restarted it then also to test the changes in the View options.

Edited: I have confused the settings for View and for Browser. both allow to select independently which information is to be displayed. Somehow I didn't notice and misinterpreted this and switched options at the wrong place. So, this problem is definitely not one.

But the second part of my bug report is still true: the information is truncated. In Browser mode and in View mode.
