1. problem: after importing images file-handles (one up to multiple!) are kept open on the SD-Card - thus causing safe removal to fail (unlocker.exe helps)
Suggestion: employ correct use of close(filehandle/dirhandle) and possibly check that those calls are performed even in case of internal exceptions

2. problem: EXIF-field for rotation angle does not get reset to 0° on importing with rotation - thus causing some viewers to rotate already rotated images.
Suggestion: reset the orientation field and add an exif-comment with the original orientation in order to preserve it

3. problem: RAW images are not imported (.rw2)

Nice to have:
1) please add an exit/quit function to the tray-context menu - having to use the task manager's kill function is a bit cumbersome
2) option to auto-dismount media (safe-remove) on completed import

In adition:
4) New camera's supporting AVCHD store movies with extension *.MTS
These are ignored by media detector.
Would be nice copy them automatically along with the pictures as well, just like it used to with recorded .MOV's and .AVI's

I agree, XnViewMediaDetector has to be improved.
5-) It will be also interesting to have a button "reload" (re-mount or rescan) the media, because, I always have (under Ubuntu + Wine) to eject and re-insert the media to see the content into XnViewMediaDetector v1.6.1).
Maybe it will be also interesting to have the ability to mount (scan) via a browser, an other selected volume ,
and maybe an other button "Unmount" (safety media removal) is interesting too AND/OR an option to auto-dismount media (safe-remove) on completed import ?

RAW (Sony *.ARW) can be imported but only after the jpegs are. Media Dectector doesn't seem to want to import all images at the same time.

I would like to be able to tag in IPTC like tags are added in Flickr. It also should be able to import from USB drives not just memory cards.

Maybe it will be also interesting to have the ability to mount (scan) via a browser, an other selected volume ,
and maybe an other button "Unmount" (safety media removal) is interesting too AND/OR an option to auto-dismount media (safe-remove) on completed import ?

If you use 'check media', the media will be reloaded

For Information, about these 2 items. Do not work under Wine/Ubuntu

It would be also a good thing to have MediaDetector under the MP's versions !
