reading and exporting a saved ntuser.dat

I'm looking for a tool which can open (view) a ntuser.dat and export selected entries to REG-files. (I want to view exported / saved ntuser.dat, not my own, current file).
Are there users which can recommend a tool?
Regards
Peter

- LastBit: Alien Registry Viewer
Alien Registry Viewer is similar to the RegEdit application included into Windows, but unlike RegEdit, it works with standalone registry files. While RegEdit shows the contents of the system registry, Alien Registry Viewer works with registry files copied from other computers.
- Brian Friesen: HiveLoader (Freeware)
With HiveLoader you can load, unload, and create registry hives. A powerful system tool not for the faint of heart.
- O&O Software: O&O RegEditor (Freeware)
Changing or creating system and program settings belongs to the daily routine of every Administrator. The O&O RegEditor makes working with the registration database significantly easier. It comes with an eminently user-friendly application, but it is through it’s portability that it really makes the life of an Administrator much easier.
- Nuno Brito: Raw Registry Editor (Freeware)
This is likely the only program outside Microsoft capable of add/remove/edit keys and values from Windows NT Registry hives without using any of the internal functions that come from MS proprietary API (Win32 Native API).
Other “raw” registry editors will only allow to modify the values of existing keys with same or smaller data size because they don't really understand how the hive structure is composed and apply superficial changes without allowing advanced operations.
- Kurt Zimmermann: RegCool (Freeware)
- Oliver Hessing: RegeditPro
With regedit Pro you can see and change values of a file ntuser.dat, which are currently not in use. So you can use RegeditPro to change user values in the registry for a logged off user.
- Resplendence: Registrar Registry Manager
Registrar Registry Manager is a complete registry management solution with a wealth of powerful features. It is intended as a complete and safe solution for administrators and power user for maintaining the Windows registry.
- Simple Carver: Registry Examiner
Registry Examiner is a utility designed to read Windows Registry Files (offline). This tool allows a user to browse the contents of a registry file without damaging or modifying the contents. Items such as registration information, software keys etc can be exported from a dead computer system from the NTUSER.DAT, SYSTEM.DAT and SAM registry files.
- Werner Rumpeltesz: RegistryReport (Freeware)
RegistryReport shows information about the operating system, installed software, the last user activity, the user settings and many other details from raw Windows NT 5 Registry files “SYSTEM”, “SOFTWARE”, “SAM” and “NTUSER.DAT” (Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista).
- Michal Mutl: Windows Registry Recovery (Freeware)
This application allows to read files containing Windows 9x, NT, 2K, XP, 2K3 registry hives. It extracts many useful information about configuration and windows installation settings of host machine.
- Petri IT Knowledgebase
- REG Command in Windows XP
REG.EXE does almost everything Regedt32 can do, but it allows you to do it from a command line. This can be useful when you want to quickly make a change without opening Regedt32, and it also allows you to embed registry operations in logon scripts and batch files.

- AutoIt Forums » Example Scripts

Hello XnTriq
thanks again.
I think you must have a huge, perfectly maintained database of software-products.

Peter, my previous post has been updated. I hope you'll find the right tool for your requirements.
This has to be the best crash course on understanding the Windows registry I've seen so far. Great catch!

Nirsoft (RegFileExport) wrote:RegFileExport is a small console application that allows you to easily extract data from offline Registry file located on another disk drive.
RegFileExport read the Registry file, ananlyze it, and then export the Registry data into a standard .reg file of Windows. You can export the entire Registry file, or only a specific Registry key.
RegFileExport may also be able to export some of the Registry data even when the Registry file is corrupted and cannot be loaded by Windows.
