"Send by email" does not work

Send by email does not work any more. It started Thunderbird and showed the right windows with the pics.
But now i can see the sandglass for a second and nothing more happens.
I checked the settings, Thunderbird is the default mail program
I reinstalled Xnview.
I am using Xnview 1.96.2 on Windows XP and Thunderbird 2.0.0.22
I think this problem is new to 1.96.x
What can i do?

Salut
I changed the mail client to Outlook and back to Thunderbird, but it doesn´t work.
TB was and is my default mail client, that has never been a problem.
I wonder wether the problem is Internet Explorer 8, I installed some weeks ago?
IE8 and its Outlook Exp. are not the default programs, but Firefox and TB.
Any other idea?
Thanks in advance
Matthias

Hello !
• That's strange, because Paul
Ouistiti-friend tried the handling and that worked for him…
- Like you can see in the French section, I use
Eudora as my default mailer,
and never had any problem with the send by e-mail function…
…I wonder wether the problem is Internet Explorer 8, I installed some weeks ago? …
• Hm… Who knows ? I stuck to IE6 here, but probably Paul could tell more - supposing he updated IE too…
• You could try to install a trial version of
Eudora to see if it works as the default mailer from XnView…
- Aside : Whether you would search the forum, you'll find out that there were already several issues
with some Outlook Express versions in the past…

I also cannot get this version of XnView to work, except by configuring Outlook as my default email agent - I hate outlook.
Cannot get it to work with Thunderbird, even when Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 is set as the default mailer. XP Pro.

Yes, I got it to work with Outlook, but ALL my email addresses etc are over in Thunderbird. Older versions of XnView would work with Thunderbird.

Hi
I have another pc with Windows 2000 and there is the same problem: some weeks ago "send by email" worked.
This W2k pc uses ie6 and TB 2.00.22 and xnview 1.96.2
Now it works again!
On my XP pc I changed to the older xnview 1.95.4, switched the default mail client to Outlook Exp. and back to TB.
I will check the behaviour with W2k.
You can download older versions here:
http://download.xnview.com/old_versions/

I had this problem as well with thunderbird.
At least it helped to set outlook as my default mail-programm, close it, then start thunderbird, set it as default mail-programm and close it.
Now it works.

Is there a fix for this that could be done via the registry or some way other than uninstalling Tbird, and/or changing defaults?
I've got a large mail archive and lots of mods on my Tbird setup, and have not installed Outlook on my laptop.
So I'd like some other way of addressing the problem.

If you install 1.96.2, "send mail" doesn't work?

[quote="yakk (

If you are not a newbie, then you know to close Thunderbird and all Office applications, and then make sure the Mail section of your win.ini file contains all of the following keys/values:
Code: Select all
[Mail]
MAPI=1
CMC=1
CMCDLLNAME=mapi.dll
CMCDLLNAME32=mapi32.dll
MAPIX=1
MAPIXVER=1.0.0.1
OLEMessaging=1
If you are not a newbie, then you know that if you need to modify win.ini, you should use a plain text editor (such as Notepad) to make the modifications, and you should restart Windows to make sure the new win.ini settings take effect.
If you are not a newbie, then you know that Thunderbird and Lotus Notes are not completely MAPI-compliant, but instead use SimpleMAPI, which arbitrarily works on some computers but not on others as far as allowing the 'Send To' feature in Office applications to function.

My XP machine has all those settings. XnView refuses to use Thunderbird to send email, it only wants to work with Microsoft Outlook, regardless how the programs and email is set in Internet Explorer.
XnView folks, please fix your software so that the 40% of the world not using MS can still use your wonderful product.
Thx!

I am using windows 7 64 bit and outlook203. I fixed this problem. Original you need to set the compatibility in to windows xp for outlook properties. If you remove the compatibility this problem goes away!!!
