0.20 win32: Document files: Page scrolling broken
Posted: Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:43 pm
Page scolling is broken (pdf-files and others)
next page - works
previous page - no reaction, greyed out
Also the document is thrown out of the preview after the last page, without asking.
It should stay there, until expicitly closed or a new file is chosen.
related:
In xnview for windows (1.96.5) page scrolling also does not work properly with the keyboard.
Menue: View - Page - next : works OK
Keyboard: shift+PageDown - works OK in viewer only,
but in the browser preview window it just highlights some files and moves the selection
same behavior for shift+PageUp
Summary and suggestions:
All xnview versions are not only useful as picture viewers, but also make very useful general file viewers (already better than anything else I know, I am often using it for the management of huge technical pdf libraries). The only drawback are the broken scrolling functions.
Keyboard:
The standard shortcut for document page scrolling should simply be PageUp/PageDown, which in my opinion is the normally expected behaviour.
Mouse Wheel:
The Mouse Wheel should also do the page scrolling, whenever any document (pdf, OpenOffice odt, etc.) has focus. With this small enhancement xnview would be an almost perfect general file browser. Shift+Mousewheel for instance could be used for zooming.
Rapid view switch:
In MP there should also be 2 separate icons in the Toolbar for Thumbnail_View and List_View for rapid single click view change. The view can then comfortably be switched only when needed, because pdf thumbnail generation is usually slow and therefore needs to be changed quite often.
