dither question

are the -binary dither and -dither commands linked? in other words,
would i use the binary dither command to set a dithering type before
applying the dither?
with a space in the -binary dither command, how do i use it in a script
without the script thinking 'dither' is a value?
is there a value for dithering? like, -dither 20, to affect the amount?
