Does Ghostscript still need to be installed for XnView 1.8 to display PDF files or is it possible to display PDF thumbnails without it being installed ?

Ghostscript is not needed but it only seems to display the very first page - if that is of any concern to you.

Btw. - you could have just tried it out, no? :)

I think that Ghostscript is still needed. At least I cannot find an entry in the list of enhancements and changes for XnView 1.80, and this would be a change worth while listing.

Yes, sometimes people should simply try out. But not in this case: Installing and deinstalling software is asked a bit too much. When uninstalling, you're often not sure whether deinstallation fully worked or not.

AFPL Ghostscript is needed. I just uninstalled Ghostscript to check.

PDFs work if right kind of Ghostscript is used. AFPL version works. GPL version does not.

Thanks for the info, I've got the GPL version indeed.
