REQ: Limit Cache Option

I suggest these options for Cache:
[x] Use maximal [X] MB for cache (then, first delete oldest items)
[x] Automatically delete items in cache older than [X] days
...or better [x] Automatically delete items in cache not used for more than [X] days

At the moment I have the feeling that the cache just fills up and caches thumbnails regardless of their size (even 300x300 pixels). If there isn't a limit for cache size, already, a limit should be introduced. And from time to time XnView should do some optimization automatically (perhaps ask user first).

Pretty good idea.

Yes, but for a future release.

Just wanted to bring it to top again

Especially nice if XnView is used on portable drives, as paths change often = age = old cache entries are usesless.
I vote for MB upper limit, as this is very easy to recognize when writing to cache, whereas age limit requires checking of existing entries and also removes stuff when having been in holidays = no changes occoured.

I vote for ANY of the two, either by "last viewed age, XX days" or by "XX MB", my thumbnail cache often grows above 200 MB, xnview itself is still lightning fast then, but CLOSING xnview takes over 10 seconds, and this is a really fast machine.

Hello,
It's 2010 and cache limit is still hasn't been implemented. At least not even in the latest version. What's going on devs? And this thread started over 5 years ago. That's a really long time for such a feature present in other alternative apps.
